Back in this land of sorrow,
Where the sun sets on one,
While it rises on the other.
These nights will only get longer.
Yet with every celestial show,
We will be drawn closer.
Time is relentless for it gives then it takes,
The wind carries whispers, my arms await.
For now my heart lays there with you,
Yours now and forever more.
Travelling with you under Ohio skies,
Never to yearn, its rhythm beats.
Passing through old Canal Fulton,
Looking at the things you used to know.
Different now because of our shared view,
Everything shines when in hand with you.
In these now our familiar places,
Our hearts will beat together their again.
The world is now nothing more,
Then the sweet memories we leave behind.
I weep happy tears unknown before,
Now totally enthralled in your love.
Every moment spent with you is bliss,
Any second apart feels like a broken promise.
Hearts lead our minds
To a future yet to be tasted.
For now battle scars on maps
Are what separate and test us.
Thoughts wander back to your porch,
Way off in the blue yonder.
On that bench where wine was sipped,
Time savoured and life lived in love.
When only the setting sun,
And a sleepy moon drifting by,
Marked the days of our life.
I was held and for the first time I felt why.
